Final part of the Cornetto trilogy, The World’s End, to begin filming in September

Well, it’s been a few years but it looks like Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright are getting back together for the final part of their Cornetto (the ice cream briefly featured in both Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz) trilogy.

According to Deadline, Wright has joined with Working Title for a September start date on the new film, titled The World’s End. Once again, Wright and Pegg wrote the script and while there doesn’t seem to be a genre parody in here yet, that will likely change as we get more information.

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

So there are hints that something might not be right in that hometown. But for now, we can at least take comfort in the fact that this is looking for a release in spring 2013.
