1984 in the works to bring dystopia back to its roots

Dystopia is big lately, with The Hunger Games coming on Friday and countless teen dystopian novels flooding the shelves of bookstores. But what about the originators? Where would we be without them?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, we don’t have to worry about that for much longer. Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment is working with LBI Entertainment to develop George Orwell’s classic 1984 into a feature film. The two groups were brought together by street artist Shepard Fairey who had been working with Imagine to get the rights to the novel.

There is no release date yet, but the novel hasn’t gotten a proper adaptation in 27 years. The Ministry of Truth is due to make a reappearance.
