Trailer Watch: Dark Shadows and Frankenweenie

Tim Burton has come full circle. He’s re-teamed (again) with Edward Scissorhands star Johnny Depp and appears to be delivering a gothic romantic comedy that shares more than a little of that film’s DNA with the upcoming Dark Shadows.

Starring Depp as vampire-out-of-time Barnabas, the film has an excellent cast and while it borrows the title of the original soap opera, there is a bit more comedy here than in the original.  The film tells the story of playboy Barnabas, who after breaking the heart of a witch, is cursed as a vampire and trapped in a coffin for 200 years, to return to find his family line leaves much to be desired.

Check it out.

Dark Shadows is directed by Tim Burton and stars Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Chloe Grace Moretz, Jackie Earle Haley, Michelle Pfeiffer and Eva Green and opens on May 11, 2012.

Tim’s other film of the year is a remake of a short film he made many years ago. Frankenweenie tells the story of a distraught boy who, after his dog is killed by a car, takes matters into his own hands.

Frankenweenie is also directed by Burton and hits theaters on October 15, 2012. It stars Martin Short, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’hara.
