Trailer Watch: Alternate History

I’m going to start you off with something that is so high concept it’s literally in outer space.

Bask in the glory of what you just watched.

Space. Nazis.

Ridiculous, yes, but Iron Sky knows that it’s ridiculous and might actually pull it off. Tongues appear to be firmly in cheek here.

When American astronaut James Washington (Christopher Kirby) puts down his Lunar Lander a bit too close to the secret Nazi base, the Moon Führer (Udo Kier) decides the glorious moment of retaking the Earth has arrived sooner than expected. Washington claims the mission is just a publicity stunt for the President of the United States (Stephanie Paul), but what else could the man be but a scout for the imminent attack by Earth forces? The Fourth Reich must act!

Two Nazi officers, ruthless Klaus Adler (Götz Otto) and idealistic Renate Richter (Julia Dietze), travel to Earth to prepare the invasion. In the end when the Moon Nazi UFO armada darkens the skies, ready to strike at the unprepared Earth, every man, woman and nation alike, must re-evaluate their priorities.

Director Timo Vuorensola’s six-year labor of love hits theaters on April 4, 2012.

For our second trailer, we’re going a lot more high budget, and slightly less high concept. After an atmospheric poster, we’re getting our first official look at Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.

The imagery here is impressive and using Johnny Cash as your voiceover artist certainly doesn’t hurt. So it’s possible that, while taking itself much more seriously than our other trailer, this could be successful too. They certainly don’t appear to be skimping on the violence.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and will be released June 22, 2012.
