Trailer Watch: The Lorax and ParaNorman
Well, it was bound to happen eventually. And at least it’s animated right? Here’s our first look at the inevitable adaptation of Dr Seuss’ The Lorax.
Apart from getting way too much of a look at The Onceler, this doesn’t look awful. Danny DeVito is a smart choice as the Lorax and it looks like the original message is at least somewhat in there, though when reading the book, I honestly thought the whole world would have been as bleak as the area around the Onceler’s house.
Director Chris Renaud did a good job with Despicable Me, so as long as he uses his thneed, I’m alright. The Lorax opens on March 2, 2012.
Let’s see, the studio behind Coraline. Zombies. And a pretty darn good voice cast. I give you ParaNorman.
Directed by Sam Fell (Flushed Away), this looks promising. And with Kodi Smit-Mcphee (The Road, Let Me In) in the lead, along with Anna Kendrick, John Goodman and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, this is star-studded enough to follow up on Laika’s first big hit.
ParaNorman will be released on August 17, 2012, so unfortunately, the dead won’t be rising for a while.

Hmmm…. I don’t know about The Lorax… it’s one of my personal favorites, and there’s a bit of character incontinuity. The Lorax was not comedic, he was tragic. He didn’t show fear, just sadness and disappointment. Also I hate that song they use in the trailer.
