I Am Number Four director D.J. Caruso signs on to Preacher

After years in development hell, it looks like we may be finally going to Texas with Jesse, Tulip and Cassidy.

According to THR’s Heat Vision Blog, I Am Number Four director D.J. Caruso has officially signed on to direct Preacher. The film follows the story of the Garth Ennis comic book series about a priest, Jesse Custer, on a quest to find and hold God accountable for abandoning his responsibilities. Along the way, Custer, his alcoholic vampire best friend Cassidy, and girlfriend Tulip run the gauntlet of the insanity of both the supernatural and America’s Heartland.

The project was previously connected to Sam Mendes, but he left to work on the untitled James Bond 23. Darren Aronofsky had expressed interest in the project as well, but it ultimately landed with Caruso. The script was penned by John August (Big Fish, The Corpse Bride) and the film will be produced by Neal H. Moritz (The Green Hornet, Battle: Los Angeles).

I’m crossing my fingers and biting my tongue on this one.
