24 film takes Jack Bauer into development hell

Close to a year ago, we reported that hit tv show 24 would be hitting the big screen. Now, it looks like we’ll have to wait a while before we get to see Jack Bauer larger than life.

According to an interview with executive producer Howard Gordon over at Entertainment Weekly, the film is in “suspended animation.” There was a script from writer Billy Ray (State of Play) but Fox apparently weren’t fans and shot it down. Currently, Gordon says, Tony Scott, on board as director and producer, is discussing possible directions with Kiefer Sutherland, but there is no set time for when the character of Jack Bauer and his real-time adventures will make it to the big screen.
