Trailer Watch: Source Code

Duncan Jone’s (Moon) new film, Source Code looks like equal parts 12 Monkeys, Groundhog Day and Minority Report. And it looks like all kinds of fantastic, a science fiction thriller set in our modern, post-9/11 age.

When decorated soldier Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he’s part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. In an assignment unlike any he’s ever known, he learns he’s part of a government experiment called the “Source Code,” a program that enables him to cross over into another man’s identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. With a second, much larger target threatening to kill millions in downtown Chicago, Colter re-lives the incident over and over again, gathering clues each time, until he can solve the mystery of who is behind the bombs and prevent the next attack.

Though I must be the only science fiction film fan who has yet to see Moon, it is on my list and it looks like Jones may have another hit here, albeit a more mainstream one.

Source Code hits theaters on April 15, 2011.

This looks fan-frelling-tastic! I watched the trailer and just shouted out in my living room: “This is how you follow up a brilliant first film!” I hope it lives up to the promise of the trailer. Would love to add Duncan Jones to the list of directors I trust implicitly.
