Zack Snyder to direct Superman: The Man of Steel
Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. have chosen Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) to direct Superman: The Man of Steel according to Deadline. The film had others in the rumor mill, including Darren Aronofsky, Tony Scott and Duncan Jones, and really, I would never have predicted this choice.
Check back later as this story develops.
UPDATE: Deadline spoke with Snyder and he has confirmed that he will be in the director’s chair. Once he’s done with bizarre-live-action-anime Sucker Punch, the director plans to begin work immediately on Superman.
I’ve been a big fan of the character for a long time, he’s definitely the king of all superheroes, he’s the one. It’s early yet, but I can tell you that what David and Chris have done with the story so far definitely has given me a great insight into a way to make him feel modern. I’ve always felt he was kind of awesome. I’ll finish Sucker Punch and get right at it.
I just don’t know. Best case scenario, since Nolan is involved and the script is Nolan/Goyer, the writing will be well done, with Snyder directing some dynamic, awe-inspiring fight scenes. But there is the potential for excessive green screen and slo-mo work, so this will be one to watch develop carefully.

Snyder directing gives me hope that Superman will actually PUNCH SOMEBODY this time around.
