WOWIO acquires DrunkDuck from Platinum Studios

In a press release this past Tuesday, it was announced that the webcomics community DrunkDuck is now a member of the WOWIO family.  Until now, DrunkDuck has been under the jurisdiction of international comic distributor Platinum Studios.

According to WOWIO CEO and President Brian Altounian, current members of DrunkDuck will notice no change in their current service or standards, and the existing archives will remain intact.  A reassuring statement, considering that the Platinum buyout in 2006 caused some dissension within the community.  Altounian explains:

Fans, publishers and advertisers will be pleased to know that it will be business as usual for DrunkDuck as well as WOWIO, and with our recent integration plans with WEvolt, we are unifying known entities and melding them into one superior comic and eBook destination.

Odds are it will likely be a very quiet changeover.  But if DrunkDuck is anything like deviantArt or Facebook, rest assured even a tiny change in site design will be dealt with swiftly and unflinchingly in strongly-worded e-mails.
