Trailer Watch: Predators

The teaser trailer for Predators that premiered at SXSW is online now, and… well, it’s a little to bitmapped for my taste, but it looks promising.

The film stars Adrien Brody as “Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they’ve been brought together on an alien planet… as prey. With the exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers – mercenaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members – human ‘predators’ that are now being systemically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators.”

Laurence Fishburne, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Danny Trejo, Walton Goggins, Oleg Taktarov, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali and Louiz Ozawa co-star. Robert Rodriguez produced it with director Nimrod Antal.

Predators hits theaters on July 7th.

Nimròd comes into my comic shop every week to pick up his books. The first time we met he cracked a huge joke about his name, and a few weeks later I saw it plastered all over IMDB attached with the Predators remake. He's a really nice and sincere guy. When he comes in we ask about his progress and he told us he was really nervous about the reception of the trailer. It's obvious that he understands the pressure he's under and wants something the fans will enjoy (this week he made a comment about how he was worried because there was a Hungarian joke in the movie that he wasn't sure the American audience would understand). He's such a good guy that I want to check out the movie, even though I've never had much interest in the Predators franchise before…

It is about criminals? Well of course Danny Trejo is in it, then!
