Trailer Watch: Somebody punches horse in 14 Blades

14_blades

Last week, Monkey Peaches revealed an “enhanced” (extended?) trailer for director Daniel Lee’s 14 Blades, which stars Hong Kong action superstars Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung and Vicki Zhao (Shaolin Soccer). Apparently the film’s original title was Jin Yi Wei — the name of the Chinese Emperor’s secret service in the Ming Dynasty.

Donnie Yen stars as Qing Long, a senior member in the service (called the Brocade-Clad Guard), “who is framed for high treason while on a secret assignment. He teams up with a young women [sic] (Vicki Zhao, I think) to uncover the truth while being hunted by his own colleagues and a female Mongol killer.”

So, it kind of sounds like a thin excuse to string together ten action scenes — but Donnie Yen somebody punches a fucking horse, man! I’m there.

Update: My eyeballs are slow. That’s totally not Donnie Yen punching the horse. It’s some old dude I don’t know.

To see the trailer, head over at MTime.com and scroll down past all the Chinese characters.

    That poor horse!
And those hats everyone in the trailer's wearing remind me of British WWI helmets. Which in turn reminds me that the German Wikipedia article about WWI features a picture of a horse with a gas mask. But that wouldn't have helped the horse in that trailer here anyway …
