Trailer Watch: Peter Jackson's Lovely Bones

Thought 1: Oh jeez, afterlife shit. This is going to be like What Dreams May Come all over again, isn’t it?

Thought 2: Ooh, pretty!

Thought 3: Wait, that’s the entire movie, isn’t it?

Well, anyway. We’ll see how the storytelling works out on December 11, 2009. Peter Jackson’s adaptation of Alice Sebold’s The Lovely Bones stars Mark Wahlberg, Saoirse Ronan (Atonement), Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, and Stanley Tucci.

Certainly looks pretty – and music by Brian Eno? Wow. I'll check it out.

Yep, that's the whole movie. I hate trailers like that.

Nah, there's more than that to story, the trailer just scratches the surface.

Yeah, Kurz is right, if the film is anything like the book that trailer shows just the bare bones of the plot – and you actually wouldn't guess the ending that easily by what's shown here at all. Assuming, of course, the ending hasn't been monstrously changed, but I don't think Jackson is really that kind of adapter.
