RDJ and Zach Galifianakis have a Due Date

According to Variety, Robert Downey Jr. is joining Zach Galifianakis in The Hangover director Todd Phillips’ Due Date, about an “expectant father (Downey Jr.) who finds himself on a road trip with a mismatched partner (Galifianakis), as he races to get there before the birth of his first child.

Phillips describes it as “a buddy comedy without the buddies”… so, a bit like Planes, Trains and Automobiles? No matter; The Hangover didn’t have the most original of premises, but it was enjoyable enough (and it seems everybody else out there liked it even more than I did). Comedy plots don’t really need to be original as long as the finished product is funny.

The script was written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland and received a spit polish by Adam Sztykiel. The film will shoot in September, after RDJ is finished with Iron Man 2.
