Trailer Watch: Whiteout

A trailer for the R-rated big-screen adaptation of Greg Rucka’s Whiteout has hit the interwebs thanks to IGN, and upon viewing it, a million heterosexual males collectively said, “Sure, I’d like to see Kate Beckinsale take a shower.”

Whiteout, which centers around a US Marshal (Beckinsale) investigating Antarctica’s first murder, was directed by Dominic Sena (Swordfish) and hits theaters on September 11, 2009. Gabriel Macht, Columbus Short, Alex O’Loughlin, Shawn Doyle and Tom Skerritt co-star.

I'm not sure if I like what I'm seeing here. Sure, the less clothes Beckinsale wears the better, but it's one scene in a movie in which she'll be otherwise heavily dressed. Probably trying to even it out.

The movie itself… right now it looks like Hollywood wish-wash.

From looking at the trailer I'm a bit puzzled. Evrything that I've heard about this film led me to believe that it would be a tensely claustrophobic thriller similar to the same location set 'The Thing'.

Instead I'm seeing alot of action that wouldn't be out of place from your typical action adventure film (exploding/crashing plane).

Maybe it was a part of the original graphic novel which I haven't read, but after watching the trailer I'm actually less inclined to go and see the film.
