Amy Adams is The Daughter of the Queen of Sheba

amy_adams1According to Variety, Amy Adams has signed to star in The Daughter of the Queen of Sheba, an indie drama based on the biography of NPR correspondent Jacki Lyden, focusing on Lyden used “her mother’s madness and delusions to empower herself.”

That description makes me cringe a little (maybe because the sexist pig in me hates the word “empower”) but Lyden is a fascinating figure. While the NPR biography (linked-to above) gives more depth, the Variety articles states:

Lyden was NPR’s first correspondent on the air in the aftermath of 9/11 and went to Afghanistan for the radio pubcaster soon after the Taliban fell. She’s working on a book about the secret lives of a small group of Iraqi friends and reported on the slaying of her translator by an American soldier.

Between the upcoming Doubt, Julia and Julia, Leap Year, and Night at the Museum 2, and this, it looks like Ms. Adams is set on alternating between money jobs and indie projects for the near future, at least — and thank God. She’s too good to lose to the dark side.

Karen Croner (Tulia, One True Thing) is penning the screenplay.
