Trailer Watch: The Lucky Ones
The Illusionist screenwriter Neil Burger takes a turn behind the camera, directing The Lucky Ones from a script he co-wrote with Dirk Wittenborn (Fierce People). With a surprising amount of heart and featuring what looks to be a trio of fantastic performances by Rachel McAdams, Tim Robbins and Chicago’s very own Michael Peña (Shooter), the film’s schmaltz-ready premise of three on-leave Army soldiers on a road trip to Vegas, actually looks like it’s going to work. The Lucky Ones opens September 26.

Wow, I’m definitely hardcore anti-schmaltz but that trailer really got to me.
Them’s that die’ll be the lucky ones.

I’m definitely intrigued. Tim Robbins doesn’t look unbearable (which is my feeling about everything he does save Shawshank) and McAdams seems to actually have some depth (which is more than what I’ve seen of her).
