Trailer Watch: Fast and Furious

The trailer for Fast and Furious (a.k.a. The Fast and the Furious 4) showed up in front of Death Race, but here it is online. The original cast is back (Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster), the soundtrack is kickin’, and the car stunts and crashes look sweet. I skipped parts 2 and 3, which were by most accounts wastes of time, but this looks like more big dumb fun in the vein of the original.

The flick races into theaters on June 5, 2009.

I am just floored by how not supremely sucky this looks.

I guess they needed some Redeem Team action after that second sequel Tokyo debacle.

actually the 3rd was pretty much as good if not better than the first. I didn’t see much at all in the way of negative talk about it either. The second one on the other hand pretty much sucked.

The director of Tokyo Drift (#3) directed this new one, incidentally.

I think the major issue people have with #3 — or at least big fans of the first one — is that is really has nothing to do with the others, apart from the Vin Diesel cameo. If it had just been called “Tokyo Drift” and made no pretense of being a sequel, it would likely have been well-received.

(I haven’t seen it, mind you.)
