Trailer Watch: House Bunny

I love Anna Faris. Not so much to see anything she’s in, like the Scary Movies or Smiley Face, but she (and Ryan Reynolds) made Just Friends enjoyable enough to sit through. She’s hot as hell, and I’m not being sarcastic at all when I say she is an absolutely gifted comedian when she has the material to work with (and even sometimes when she doesn’t). It’s really a shame that she’s not in better movies. Which brings us to The House Bunny, in which Ms. Faris plays a Playboy bunny who becomes the house mother of the “loser sorority house”:

So… yeah.

This movie is most likely not the start of a new era in her career, like I’ve hoped for her after seeing her do absolutely terrific work in her small roles in Lost in Translation and Brokeback Mountain. But — I’m probably gonna see this one anyway, because despite all the movie-snob bones in my body, the other bone in my body is going to use its veto power. And unless somebody calls me out on it, I’ll probably say, “I’m only seeing it for The Triple Feature.”

Colin Hanks (Orange County), Emma Stone (Superbad), Kat Dennings (40 Year Old Virgin), and Bevery D’Angelo (National Lampoon’s Vacation) round out the film’s inexplicably strong cast. House Bunny hops into theaters on August 22.

I saw this movie at an advanced screening back in…I think it was November or December. It was called “I Know What Boys Like” originally. I can see why they changed the name; it was awkward at first. It’s actually kind of funny; I laughed quite a bit more than I expected to. And yes, I totally agree about Anna Faris’s talent. She manages to not make this movie a waste of time, which is pretty good.

I almost mentioned the name change, but according to the MTV Movie Blog it was originally House Bunny, then changed to I Know What Boys Like (which is a stupid title), and apparently it’s back to House Bunny again.
