Trailer Watch: Blindness, Hellboy II

The teaser trailer for City of God director Fernando Mereilles’ adaptation of the Jose Saramago novel Blindness is up at MSN Video. It’s tough to tell if it will be brilliant, like City of God (which probably deserved five stars in my review, in hindsight), or slick but stupid like the well-meaning Constant Gardener, but it’s sure spooky. Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Gael Garcia Bernal and Danny Glover star. Blindness opens September 19, 2008.

Yahoo! Movies has the full Hellboy II trailer in high definition. It’s looking good! Some strong character moments, cool creatures, and the promise of some really fun action. The Guillermo del Toro sequel opens July 11. You can find the earlier teaser trailer over at Apple.

If it is even a fraction of how gripping and jarring the novel is, and the teaser shows signs of this, it will be a must see.

Glad you guys mentioned BOTH of these! I (unfortunately) feel like both are going to play very poorly which is sad because they’re both going to be phenomenal movies. Two incredible directors – Guillermo del Toro and Fernando Mereilles – and they’re not getting enough buzz! Glad to see you guys mention them, they need all the help they can get.
