Weisz joins Amenabar's Egyptian epic

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Rachel Weisz (The Mummy films), is returning to Egypt (sort of) in the next film from Alejandro Amenábar (Open Your Eyes, The Sea Inside), Amenábar’s second English-language film, after The Others. ("Sort of," because the film is shooting in Malta.)

The $72.9 million budgeted film, which doesn’t seem to have a set title but has been called The Mists of Time on occasion, centers around a slave (The Nativity Story’s Oscaar Isaac) who "turns to the rising tide of Christianity in the hopes of pursuing freedom while also falling in love with his master," an Alexandrian professor (Weisz). Ashraf Barhm (who was excellent in The Kingdom) plays a "zealous Christian monk."

The production is slated for a March start, with no projected release date.
